Monday Dec 27, 2021
Monday Dec 27, 2021
On the evening of September 3rd, 1996, in Turner Valley, Alberta, a very small town about 70 kilometres southwest of Calgary, 911 calls were made by neighbours who noticed a smouldering fire at a residence nearby. The fire department would come and put out the blaze. Upon the fire being put out, two people were found in the home and they had tragically died. However, upon investigation it was discovered that the two deceased had in fact not died from the fire and were in fact murdered before the fire was set. This week we take a close look at the deaths of Jane and Cathryn Johnson.

He decided to investigate and he dug a bit down under the leaves and brush and what he found definitely caught him off guard. He discovered numerous bones embedded in the ground. This would be the discovery of one of the most famous unsolved murder cases in Canada, The Babes in the Woods. Â

Monday Nov 15, 2021
On Sunday November 17th 2019 26 year old Marshal Iwaasa spent his day doing normal, run of the mill Sunday things. He did his laundry and worked around his home he rented in Calgary, Alberta, Canada doing chores. Early in the evening he jumped into his dark blue GMC Sierra truck and made a two hour drive to Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Lethbridge is where Marshall had grown up and one of his first stops was to visit his mother. He spent a few hours visiting with his mom and fixing a computer issue that she had. Around 11pm he left his mom’s house wearing black pants, a green hoodie, red high-top running shoes and a grey toque. Marshal has not been seen, or heard from, since.

Monday Sep 20, 2021
Monday Sep 20, 2021
In this episode we take a look at a case that received an update VERY recently. For 44 years, nobody knew who the victim known only as Septic Tank Sam was, much less who may have been responsible for his murder. In 2021, there was a breakthrough and it was discovered that the victim was an aboriginal man named Gordie Sanderson, a man who was sadly a victim of the 60's scoop in Canada and would have his life largely changed because of it. With the breakthrough of who the victim was, now the case is ramping back up to see if perhaps there is a way to close the rest of the case.

Gone, But Never Forgotten
GBNF is a True Crime Podcast that covers mostly Canadian stories. We cover murders, both solved and unsolved, missing person's cases and so much more. We also do Gone Travellin' episodes where we cover cases of true crime from other countries around the world.
You can follow along with our other "Goners" over on Patreon and support the pod at https://www.patreon.com/GBNFPodcast
At the end of every episode we like to share a #BeBetter story which are stories that are sent in by our listeners that show how people in the world around us go above and beyond to help out their fellow human beings. This is our way of giving some levity after some cases that are truly nothing but dark and dreary.
GBNF is written and produced by Lance Ryan and co-hosted by Lance and his lovely wife Julie Ryan.
